Reflections for Strategic Content Area Teaching Project

On this final page you will compose a professional statement (which will be the equivalent to 2-3 word processed pages) explaining what you now see as your growth as a teacher of content area literacy.   This professional statement will address three major questions

1.    Based on your responses to the Session 13 Self Evaluation (and the additional gains you have made since), what are some of the significant new knowledge and instructional abilities you have gained regarding designing effective content area literacy instruction?
•    Please refer to the specific learning objectives as outlined on the Session 13/Near End of Semester Self Reflection (based on the course objectives found on page 1 of the syllabus).

2.    How did you achieve this professional growth?  What aspects of the course were most influential in your accomplishments?

•    Of the reading-to-learn activities you have completed this semester (i.e., course textbooks, teacher-selected articles, peer selected articles, or self-selected articles), which works were particularly useful in developing your understanding of content area literacy instruction?   Which would you recommend to others in the field looking to gain similar insights that you have?

•    Of the major course assignments you completed this semester (i.e., Vocabulary Self-Collection Strategy Assignment; Strategic Content Area Teaching Project (Parts I-IV); Reciprocal Teaching activity) what aspects were particularly useful to your development?

3.    What professional questions or concerns still remain regarding content literacy instruction and regarding your own level of expertise as an effective content area literacy teacher?
•    Please refer to the specific learning objectives as outlined on the Session 13/Near End of Semester Self Reflection (based on the course objectives found on page 1 of the syllabus).
